Germany-based WPD will oversee the development of the Aklan project, an onshore wind farm in the Philippines with a total capacity of 75.6MW. Philippines-based Triconti ECC Renewables Corporation will undertake the planning and implementation of the project. Works will also include the deployment of 18 Vestas V136 turbines with a capacity of 4.2 MW each. The project is part of the CNP Backbone Extension, a large-scale grid reinforcement and expansion project for the islands of Cebu, Negros, and Panay.
The Alkan farm will be connected to the main grid through National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) new substation that is currently under construction. The project partners are now negotiating a power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell the wind farm’s output locally.
