Russia-based VTB Bank has approved a grant of 20.74 trillion dong to the Rosatom State Nuclear Corporation to develop Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant. The Plant 1 project will be developed in Thuan Nam district in the central coastal province of Ninh Thuan, at an estimated cost of 207.43 trillion dong. Atomstroyexport Engineering Company will be responsible for undertaking the project. The first unit, with a capacity of 1,000 MW, will be put into the operation in 2020; the second unit will be completed a year later. Meanwhile, Plant 2 will be implemented through funding from Japan.
