Vietnam Southern Institute of Science and Technology and US-based EDES Group have signed an MoU to undertake the Ho Chi Minh City–Can Tho City rail project. The 134 km rail line with 10 stations will enable passenger trains to run at 200 km per hour. The project that will be implemented on a BOT basis is estimated to cost $3.6 billion. It is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
