Viettel has awarded Ericsson the majority of its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) deployment in Vietnam, covering the capital Hanoi and the north and central regions.
The agreement also involves modernising Viettel’s 4G network. Ericsson’s deployment will use its Radio System to boost Viettel’s network capabilities, and the companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote 5G adoption and develop use cases. Additionally, Nokia has secured a separate contract to deploy 5G equipment for Viettel across 22 provinces in Vietnam.
