Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced plans to break ground on 14 new infrastructure projects and complete 50 ongoing ones in 2025, including key projects like the North-South Expressway and Long Thanh International Airport. The expansion of the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway will also be prioritized. The Long Thanh Airport, located near Ho Chi Minh City, will be the country’s largest and is expected to ease congestion at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

In addition to expressways, the government will focus on rail projects, including the North-South high-speed railway, which is expected to cost USD67 billion. Construction for the 1,541 km railway is set to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for 2035. The transport ministry will also advance the planning of several other railway routes and modernize existing infrastructure. A budget of approximately USD3.41 billion is expected for the ministry in 2025.
