EVN transmission subsidiary National Power Transmission Corporation (EVN NPT) has commissioned the Vietnamese portion of the 220 kV Xekaman 1-Pleiku 2 transmission line project linking the national grids of Vietnam and Lao PDR. The project will help in transmitting electricity from Xekaman 1 hydropower plant located in Laotian province of Attapeu in Lao PDR to Vietnam. For this, a 191 km line will be constructed to link the Xekaman substation in Laos to the Pleiku 2 substation in Vietnam. Of the total line length, 75 km will lie in Laos and the remaining in Vietnam. The line is an integral part of the Greater Mekong Sub region (GMS) power master plan, which aims to link the power grids of the GMS countries, namely Cambodia, China (specifically Yunnan Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
