The Ministry of Construction in Vietnam has announced plans to conduct pre-feasibility studies by 2020 for the development of the North-South HSR. The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will together conduct the studies for the priority sections including Hanoi Capital-Vinh City and Ho Chi Minh City-Central Nha Trang City.
Construction is planned to begin in 2021 and be completed by 2030. Initially, the trains are expected to travel at a speed of 200 km per hour and later at 350 km per hour.
