The Government of Vietnam is accelerating its national expressway expansion, targeting the completion of 1,188 km of expressways in 2025 as part of its goal to reach 3,000 km nationwide. The government aims to improve transport connectivity to support an eight per cent GDP growth target for 2025.

The expressway expansion is part of a broader infrastructure push, including 1,000 km of coastal roads and major airport projects like Long Thanh International Airport and Tan Son Nhat’s T3 terminal. Of the 1,188 km under construction, 16 projects covering 786 km are on track for early completion, while 12 projects spanning 402 km face challenges related to land clearance and material supply. Efforts are underway to address these bottlenecks, including investment adjustments for key projects and new guidelines on material use.
