The Ministry of Transport (MoT) of Vietnam has announced plans to enhance transportation projects in the Central Highlands by collaborating with regional authorities. The Central Highlands region includes Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Lâm Đồng provinces, bordering Laos and Cambodia.
The aim is to develop the social-economic landscape while ensuring security and national defence in the country.
Some key projects include the construction of expressways, expansion of airports, and restoration of railway lines. By 2030, the completion of expressways like Quy Nhơn – Pleiku, Khánh Hoà – Buôn Ma Thuột, and Gia Nghĩa – Chơn Thành is planned. Further plans include the North–Southwest expressway and other key routes.
