The Government of Vietnam has simultaneously held groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies for 234 major infrastructure projects across 34 provinces and cities on December 19, 2026, marking a coordinated national investment push led by central ministries, state-owned corporations, and local authorities.

According to the Ministry of Construction, the programme includes 148 newly launched projects and 86 inaugurated projects, covering transport infrastructure, urban development, aviation, railways, and public facilities. Of the total, 38 projects are led by ministries and central agencies, 39 by state-owned corporations and general companies, and 157 by provincial and municipal governments.

The combined investment value exceeds VND3.4 quadrillion (approximately USD130 billion). State budget funding accounts for more than VND627 trillion (aroundUSD 24 billion) across 96 projects, while the remaining 138 projects are financed through non-budgetary sources, including public–private partnerships and corporate capital.

Key transport-related developments include the inauguration of facilities and the first commercial flight at Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province, the launch of Component 1 of the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway investment project, and multiple urban and road infrastructure projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Hanoi, construction commenced on the Red River Boulevard project, while the Olympic Sports Urban Complex in Thuong Phuc Commune was inaugurated.

The nationwide rollout underscores Vietnam’s continued focus on accelerating large-scale infrastructure delivery to support economic growth, urbanisation, and regional connectivity ahead of the next development phase.
