India-based Tata Power has signed an MoU with the Vietnamese government to develop the 1,320 MW Long Phu 2 TPP in  Soc Trang province. The plant that will have two units of 660 MW each is estimated to cost $1.8 billion. The project will be implemented on a design–build–own– operate–maintain basis. Long Phu 2 is one of the three TPPs at the Long Phu Power Complex. The main investor of the project is Song Da Corporation. Construction work on the project is likely to start in 2019.
