The Vietnamese government  has approved the plan to invest in the Southeast and East Asia undersea internet cable project. The companies involved in the project include Viettel, FPT Telecom Company, and Hanoi-based CMC Telecom Infrastructure Joint Stock Company. The total investment amount of the project that involves the establishment of a 10,000 km Asia Pacific Gateway submarine cable network is 826.39 billion dong. The project, which is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2014, will have a carrying capacity of 15.3 terabits per second.
