The Vietnam government has approved a 1 trillion dong project involving the installation of submarine cables to transmit power to the Ly Son Island district. In November 2012, Vietnam’s Central Power Corporation, an affiliate of the state-run EVN Group, in collaboration with the Ly Son District People’s Committee, conducted a field survey for the project. The project entails setting up connection points at the 110 kV Dung Quat substation or at the 110 kV Dung Quat port substation and laying a submarine cable from Thanh Thuy village on the mainland to Tay village on Ly Son Island.
