The Governments of Vietnam and Laos have agreed to strengthen cooperation on transport infrastructure and economic connectivity, with strategic projects aimed at improving links between the two countries and supporting regional trade.
The Lao government highlighted several priority transport projects, including Routes 6 and 12, the Vientiane–Hanoi Expressway, and the expressway linking the Cha Lo border gate with Vung Ang Port. These projects are intended to improve bilateral connectivity and facilitate trade between Laos and Vietnam.
For the remainder of 2026, both sides agreed to continue cooperation on transport alongside finance, energy, telecommunications and tourism, while addressing difficulties faced by businesses and investors involved in infrastructure projects. The cooperation is also intended to strengthen connectivity among Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, supporting greater economic complementarity and regional integration.
