The Government of Vientiane is set to enhance its public transport system with the launch of ViaBus, a real-time bus tracking app developed in partnership with Thailand-based Via Group Company Limited The initiative, jointly undertaken with the Vientiane Capital State Bus Enterprise, aims to provide live updates on bus locations, routes, and schedules across the city. The app is designed to improve commuter convenience and streamline bus operations.
ViaBus is led by Intouch Marsvongpragorn, a Chulalongkorn University graduate recognized on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2021. The new app is expected to replace or complement the existing Lao Bus Navi system, which currently tracks 17 routes but has faced issues with reliability and data accuracy. ViaBus marks a step forward in Vientiane’s effort to modernize urban mobility with user-friendly digital solutions.
