Authorities in Vientiane have completed seven reinforced concrete road projects ahead of schedule, strengthening urban and peri-urban connectivity across the capital. The projects cover a combined length of 40.81 km and form part of efforts to improve transport links along the Mekong River, near the Lao–China Railway corridor, and within residential areas.

The newly completed roads connect key sections in Hatxayfong, Xaythany, and Sisattanak districts, linking riverbank zones, major transport corridors, and local communities. Individual road sections range from approximately 2.5 km to over 9 km in length, with widths between 3.8 m and 10 m, supporting both local traffic and wider urban mobility.

Construction began in January 2025 and was completed on January 2, 2026, ahead of the planned timeline. The works were delivered by Phathal Huongchalern Company and Xaychalernsap Company using funding from the state investment budget. Under the project terms, contractors will remain responsible for monitoring, maintenance, and repairs during a one-year warranty period extending to January 2027.

Officials said the completed road projects are expected to improve travel efficiency, enhance traffic safety, and support more balanced development across Vientiane Capital, particularly in areas experiencing growing residential and economic activity.
