The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded two civil contracts worth SGD861 million for design and construction works on stations and tunnels under the Cross Island Line (CRL) Phase 1.

Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure Private Limited was awarded the first contract valued at SGD454 million for the design and construction of the Serangoon North station and related tunnels. The second contract valued at SGD407 million was awarded to Japan-based Sato Kogyo for the design and construction of Tavistock station and tunnels.

Construction works on both the stations is scheduled to commence in Q2 of 2022, with passenger service on the CRL Phase 1 expected to begin in 2030. The CRL is the eighth high-capacity mass rapid transit (MRT) line in Singapore that is currently under construction. The line will be constructed in three phases with CRL1 being the first phase. The CRL1 will be 29 km long with 12 stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill.
