Tunnel boring works have reportedly commenced on the Laos-China railway link in Laos. Work has been initiated at three points on the Boten tunnel, one of the three tunnels in northern Luang Namtha province under the railway project. The 417 km railway project aims at linking Vientiane in Laos to China. It will traverse four provinces of the capital city – Luang Prabang, Oudomxay and Luang Namtha. Under this project, the Laos government is developing 75 tunnels spanning a total length of 197.83 km. The $5.8 billion project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
