Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has instructed True Corporation and Advanced Info Service (AIS) to shut down their operations in the 1800 MHz band by September 2014. Further, NBTC has ordered the two operators to shift their customers to other spectrum bands by end-July 2014, as the sector regulator will be auctioning the spectrum in this band in August 2014. The licences for the 1800 MHz band were earlier extended for one year (till September 2014) to enable them to shift their customers to other spectrum bands.
