The Government of Indonesia has announced plans to trial the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) in the new capital city Nusantara (IKN) in August 2024. The trial will be used to evaluate the project’s feasibility and functionality.
The ART trains will be imported from China, but the project will not be financed through the State Budget (APBN). The commercialisation timeline of this transportation project is yet to be finalised.
