Vietnam-based Transerco has introduced 53 electric buses across four routes in Hanoi, replacing diesel-powered vehicles as the capital advances its transition to cleaner public transport. The deployment began on October 6, 2026, through two operating units. Cau Buou Bus Enterprise introduced 28 buses on routes 22A, connecting Gia Lam Bus Station with Kien Hung Urban Area, and 22B, linking Giap Bat Bus Station with Do Nghia. Southern Hanoi Passenger Bus Enterprise deployed the remaining 25 buses on route 30, between My Dinh Bus Station and Gamuda Urban Area, and route 50, connecting Long Bien with An Lac Urban Area in Hoai Duc.
The new fleet comprises VinFast Green Bus models, including the EB 8, which can accommodate 60 passengers. The EB 8 measures 8.6 metres long and is equipped with a 200 kW electric motor and a 359 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. It supports DC fast charging at up to 120 kW through a CCS2 connector and has a maximum speed of 80 km/hr and a reported range of more than 290 km per charge. Its configuration includes 24 seats, space for one wheelchair and capacity for 34 standing passengers.
Hanoi aims to convert its entire bus fleet to electric and other green-energy models by 2030. The city also plans to transition completely to electric buses within the central urban area enclosed by Ring Road 4, as part of its wider efforts to reduce transport emissions.
