TPG Telecom Limited, a joint venture (JV) between Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) and M1-StarHub, has secured an additional 10MHz in a 2.1GHz auction, increasing their overall 5G spectrum holdings and allowing the company to start deploying a nationwide standalone (SA) network in Singapore. The 2.1GHz spectrum allocation will start in the beginning of 2022.

TPG Telecom will have two years to obtain 50 per cent coverage with an SA 5G network and five years for nationwide deployment. The company currently owns spectrum in the 900MHz and 2.3GHz bands, which it acquired as part of its 2016 market entry. StarHub-M1 has paid SGD52.5 million to acquire the five 5MHZ lots.
