Toyo-Thai, the Thai subsidiary of Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation, will construct a new 1,000 MW coal-fired power plant to supply electricity to Yangon and the Thilawa industrial zone nearby. The company intends to import from Japan an ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant that emits low levels of greenhouse gases. It also plans to invite joint investment by Japanese manufacturers of heavy electrical machinery to install machineries and technologies for the project.
