The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced plans to construct three additional stations along the EDSA Busway as part of its ongoing modernisation programme. The new stations will be located in Cubao, Magallanes, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), with construction scheduled to begin in 2026 and completion targeted within one year.
According to DOTr, the additional stations are intended to improve commuter access and streamline bus operations along EDSA. The planned Kamuning station, one of the new facilities, is expected to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026. It will be equipped with elevators and escalators to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women. A separate pedestrian footbridge, independent of Metro Rail Transit Line 3, is also planned in the Kamuning area.
To support operations during road rehabilitation works on EDSA, the DOTr has instructed bus operators to deploy additional units on the EDSA Carousel service. At the same time, MRT-3 has increased capacity by deploying additional Dalian train sets during peak hours. Traffic management efforts have also been strengthened, with personnel from the DOTr’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation working alongside the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the Philippine National Police.
The DOTr added that the Department of Public Works and Highways has completed reblocking and asphalt overlay works at the EDSA Buendia station area. Together, these measures are aimed at maintaining service reliability while expanding capacity and improving passenger experience along Metro Manila’s primary public transport corridor.
