The Government of Vietnam has announced plans to prioritise digital infrastructure development to drive economic growth and digital transformation under the National Digital Transformation Program by 2025, with Orientations Towards 2030. Key initiatives include expanding broadband networks, building data centres, and deploying IoT systems in smart cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. These efforts aim to enhance connectivity, modernize public services, and integrate digital technologies into various sectors, such as transportation and environmental management.
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has also partnered with SpaceX to launch Starlink satellite internet in 2025, addressing connectivity challenges in remote areas. By 2030, the government targets universal high-speed fibre-optic coverage and 5G availability for 99% of the population. Collaborative efforts between local authorities, enterprises, and communities are expected to establish Vietnam as a leader in digital transformation.
