The Government of the Philippines has been seeking financial support from Japan and the United States for its Subic-Clark railway project, valued at PHP50 billion after China unexpectedly withdrew its funding. Plans are underway that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN) will help fund the project.

The railway project will enhance connectivity between Subic and Clark and is a key part of the Philippines’ Luzon Economic Corridor initiative aimed at integrating transport infrastructure across key regions. The government is seeking alternative funding sources, including investments from other international entities.
