The Government of Thailand has approved the high-speed railway (HSR) project connecting Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and U-Tapao airports with Pattaya. After Cabinet review and finalisation of contract details with contractor Asia Era One, construction is set to begin in early 2025. Estimated at USD8.3 billion, this 220-km-long rail line will support high-speed train travel, fostering Thailand’s tourism and economic growth by enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time between key hubs.
To enhance its transportation network, Thailand’s new HSR line will use an initial investment of USD460 million for rolling stock, while other high-speed trains like the CR300AF are under consideration for other national lines.
