The Government of the Philippines has secured a USD905.26 million loan from South Korea-based Export-Import Bank (KEXIM) to fund Phase 1 of the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) project. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and bolster economic development in Metro Manila and the Calabarzon region. Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan emphasized that the project aligns with the 2023-2028 Philippine Development Plan and the President’s socioeconomic agenda to lower transport and logistics costs. The first phase includes a 7.94 km road comprising viaducts, embankments, and interchanges, with construction starting in 2025 and completion targeted for 2029.

The LLRN project is part of a broader traffic decongestion strategy, which includes major infrastructure such as the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3, NLEX-SLEX Connector Road, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway. The project is expected to enhance connectivity, promote tourism, and stimulate economic growth in the surrounding areas. Additionally, the second phase of the LLRN, covering the eastern shore of Laguna Lake, is under review, with study results anticipated by the end of 2025.
