ZEEKR, TPM Automotive, and SINEXCEL have launched Thailand’s first megawatt-level EV charging station in Bangkok, marking the country’s entry into the megawatt charging era. The project was launched in collaboration with representatives from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, charging platform providers, operators, and industry stakeholders. The initiative aims to address the growing demand for ultra-fast charging infrastructure as 800V electric vehicles account for approximately 15 per cent of Thailand’s EV market.
The charging station is equipped with SINEXCEL’s 960 kW ultra-fast charging system, comprising one 700A liquid-cooled supercharging dispenser and three 500A air-cooled fast-charging dispensers. The intelligent charging system dynamically allocates power among connected vehicles and enables two ZEEKR 7X vehicles to charge simultaneously from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 10 minutes during testing. The system achieves 97 per cent power utilisation, around 16 per cent higher than conventional charging solutions. It is also designed to support future expansion from 960 kW to 1,280 kW, accommodate liquid-cooled and Megawatt Charging System (MCS) dispensers, and integrate with solar power and battery energy storage systems to minimise grid impacts.
The project addresses key challenges associated with Thailand’s transition to high-voltage electric vehicles, including slow charging speeds, inefficient power utilisation, and grid stability. By combining ZEEKR’s 800V EV platform, SINEXCEL’s megawatt charging technology, and TPM Automotive’s local market network, the partners aim to establish a scalable model for ultra-fast charging infrastructure across Thailand and support the wider adoption of electric mobility in Southeast Asia.
