The Thailand government has agreed to form a special purpose vehicle (SPV) in the country to manage Myanmar’s Dawei deep-sea port and the special economic zone. The SPV will be solely involved in the management activities, and not in investment-related ones. It will set up registered subsidiaries in Myanmar to acquire concessions from the local government. Further, six JV firms based in Myanmar will invest in infrastructure works such as roads, the deep-sea port, water, power, and industrial estates.
