Thailand has raised 41.6 billion baht through the auction of bandwidth for 3G mobile services. The three successful bidders are Advanced Info Service (AIS), Total Access Communication (DTAC), and True Move. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) stated that AIS submitted the highest bid at 14.6 billion baht for three slots of the 5 MHz bandwidth, while the other two operators submitted bids of 13.5 billion baht for three slots of bandwidth each. The government had put up nine slots of 5 MHz bandwidth for auction at a starting price of THB 4.5 billion per slot. Each bidder could bid only for a maximum of 15 MHz bandwidth, or three slots of the spectrum.
