The government has decided to expedite construction of the double-track railway project from Den Chai in Phrae to Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai province. The 323 km railway line will be constructed at a cost of THB 85 billion. It will have 26 stations and will pass through four provinces – Phrae, Lampang, Phayao and Chiang Rai. The bidding process for the construction of the railway line is expected to commence in August 2019. The construction process is scheduled to begin in January 2020 and to be completed in 2023.
