The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) of Thailand has cleared a portion of its Green Line debt, settling THB37 billion. This includes THB23 billion for the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for Phase 2 of the BTS Skytrain extension, paid to Krungthep Thanakom Co Ltd. The payment was made using the 2024 supplemental budget, and the ownership of the system has now officially transferred to BMA.
However, significant portions of the debt remain unresolved. These include THB14.476 billion owed for operation and maintenance services in Phases 1 and 2, which was paid following a ruling from the Supreme Administrative Court. Another THB12.245 billion remains in dispute, with the case still under review by the Administrative Court. Additionally, an estimated THB25 billion in further debt is pending, with the payment on hold due to ongoing corruption investigations and rulings from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Office of the Attorney General.
