Thailand’s airports witnessed combined passenger traffic of 74.3 million in 2012, thus exceeding the 2011 figure by 12 per cent. Of the total traffic, 28.3 million were domestic passengers, with international passengers constituting the remainder. The six airports in Thailand are the Suvarnabhumi, Dong Mueang, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket, and Chiang Rai airports. Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport alone received 51.46 million passengers in 2012. Currently, expansion work is taking place at the Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket airports.
