Airports of Thailand (AOT) recorded combined passenger traffic of 86.1 million during fiscal year 2013 (ended September 2013), 20.43 per cent higher than in financial year 2012. International passenger traffic has been reported at 54.3 million during financial year 2013, constituting an increase of 22.44 per cent compared to 2012. Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport handled 50.9 million passengers in 2013 – a decline of 2.8 per cent compared to 2012. The dip in traffic at Suvarnabhumi airport is largely because of the relocation of the domestic services of low-cost carriers like Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, and Orient Thai Airlines to Don Muang airport in October 2012. Meanwhile, AOT has raised the passenger service charge from 100 baht to 200 baht for domestic passengers and from 700 baht to 800 baht for international passengers.
