Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) has stated that it would decide on a strategic partner for an FLNG project off Australia by end-2013. The decision has likely been delayed because several investors have shown interest in the project; thus the company is seeking more time to consider the technology carefully. PTTEP, majority owned by state-controlled PTT Plc, has long sought a strategic partner for joint investment in the FLNG project, including floating LNG storage, in the Cash Maple field in the Timor Sea off north west Australia. The PTT Group is seeking to build up LNG as a suitable resource for serving Thailand’s growing demand.
