Malaysia-based Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has awarded six power purchase agreements (PPAs) to six different companies for the development of solar parks that will have a combined capacity of 180 MW (30 MW each).

One project, awarded to Kenyir Solar Park Sdn Bhd and Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited, located in Dungun, Terengganu, is expected to be operationalised by the end of 2019. Earlier, in mid-March 2018, TNB awarded PPAs for another 60 MW of solar projects.

In January 2018, the PA Group signed a $154 million three-year contract to supply materials to First Solar, and Finnish engineering consultancy Pöyry agreed to work with Leader Solar Energy for the development of a 29 MW solar project in Kedah. In December 2017, a consortium headed by Cypark Resources secured a contract to develop a 30 MW photovoltaic array in Negeri Sembilan.
