Telenor, the major shareholder in Thailand’s Total Access Communication (DTAC), plans to ramp up its presence in Asia, by investing in Myanmar. The company plans to set up the strategic telecommunications infrastructure in the country if it wins an operating licence in the country. On June 27, 2013, the Myanmar government will announce the winners of the two licences from among the 12 pre-qualified applicants selected. The licences will give operating rights to the companies for a 15-year period.
