Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has signed an RM2 billion fibre leasing service agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) for a period of 10 years to speed up the implementation of Malaysia’s government-owned 5G network. Under the terms of the contract, TM will offer its domestic fibre cable network, which spans over 640,000 km across Malaysia, to provide 5G fibre leasing services for connection between DNB’s 5G mobile sites and nodes. This agreement is expected to support the government’s aim to accelerate 5G implementation nationwide.

After signing the term sheet, the parties will immediately commence negotiations with the goal of finalising and executing a formal agreement on detailed terms that are mutually acceptable within four months. The signed term sheet will be valid and effective until the final commissioned cell site’s 10-year service term expires.
