The Embassy of Sweden in the Philippines and Business Sweden conducted a high-level mission to Davao City to strengthen cooperation on sustainable transport and support the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP). Led by Ambassador Anna Ferry and Trade Commissioner Johan Lennefalk, the delegation met with Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte, government officials and Swedish companies operating in Davao to discuss investment opportunities and Sweden’s long-term commitment to the city’s public transport transformation.

The delegation highlighted Swedish expertise in intelligent transport systems and fleet management through companies including Consat Telematics and Kapsch TrafficCom. Consat Telematics showcased its connected mobility and fleet management solutions designed to improve operational efficiency, safety and passenger services, while Kapsch TrafficCom presented its intelligent transport systems, tolling technologies and data-driven traffic management solutions for modern urban mobility. The mission also included visits to Swedish companies operating in Davao, including Transcom and Netzon Group, underscoring Sweden’s growing business presence in the city.

Sweden’s engagement builds on its broader support for sustainable transport development in the Philippines. Since 2018, Swedfund has provided grants for the EDSA Bus Rapid Transit project in Metro Manila, followed by additional funding in 2025 for technical assistance, engineering design and public-private partnership advisory services. Sweden is also supporting integrated public transport planning in Iloilo City, reinforcing its role as a long-term partner in advancing safe, efficient and sustainable urban mobility across the Philippines.
