SUSI Partners, through its Asia Energy Transition Fund (SAETF), has partnered with Singapore-based Canopy Power, a microgrid technology provider, to offer clean power solutions to off-grid locations across Southeast Asia (SEA). Under the agreement, SAETF will finance microgrid projects that combine solar photovoltaics (PV) with battery storage and energy management technology to replace diesel generators in off-grid and underserved locations. Canopy Power will provide engineering, procurement, and construction expertise to provide microgrid projects to customers in the tourism, agriculture, mining, and fishery industries, among others.

Microgrids will also enhance energy security in the areas as well as lower energy costs considering decreasing prices for solar and battery storage systems. This is especially relevant in locations where grid access is not centralised.
