SUEZ has commissioned the Medan water production plant extension project in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The new plant has increased the plant’s total water production capacity to 77,760 m3 per day. The water drinking project contributes to Indonesia’s National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN 2020-2024) that aims to boost water infrastructure.

SUEZ has been operating the Medan plant since 2001 through a joint venture between PT. Tirta Lyonnaise Medan (TLM) and PDAM Tirtanadi under a build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract. In February 2019, SUEZ secured a USD191-million contract from PDAM Tirtanadi to expand the Medan drinking water production plant. The extension of the BOT contract includes an operating period of 25 years, until 2045.
