Pertamina Geothermal Energy, Chevron New Energies International and Mubadala Energy have signed a joint study agreement (JSA) to explore the geothermal potential in Kotamobagu, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The agreement will provide a comprehensive framework to conduct a study for developing the Kotamobagu Geothermal Working Area (WKP).

The agreement is in line with the Government of Indonesia’s aim of targeting the addition of 3.3 GW of installed geothermal capacity by 2030. The produced energy will be used as a source to feed the domestic market and an input to produce low-carbon hydrogen or ammonia.
