The Thailand government is testing a stormwater underground tunnel system in Bangkok. Excess rainwater is being channelled into the tunnel from six districts of the region – Dusit, Bang Sue, Phaya Thai, Chatuchak, Din Daeng and Huai Kwang. It will also receive water from Khlong Lat Phrao so as to help expedite the flow of water. The tunnel will convey this excess water into the Chao Phraya river. Once tested, the tunnel will be operationalised soon to ease the problem of flooding that often plagues the city.
