Airports of Thailand (AoT) will provide the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) with consultancy services for Bang Sue Grand station. AoT will assist SRT in forming a business development model. AoT will use its expertise to expand the commercial space of the station to 40 per cent from SRT’s existing plan of 5-10 per cent.

As per  AoT’s plan, the ticket counters will be replaced by automated ticket dispensing machines and the station will be powered by solar panels to make it more energy efficient. SRT will consider AoT’s plan before awarding a private company the tender to manage the project. The bids will be called in August and the selected company will be announced in December followed by the contract being signed in January, 2022.

The construction for the station is estimated to take three years and will be completed by 2025. SRT will earn THB47.78 million in lease payment and fees will be raised by 10 per cent every three years throughout the 30-year contract. SRT will collect THB196.6 million, in the last year of the contract.
