The San Roque Multipurpose Project (SRMP) in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines has been awarded the Hydropower Sustainability Standard (HSS) Silver Certification for its outstanding performance in addressing environmental and social challenges. It is the first hydropower plant in the Philippines and Southeast Asia to receive this recognition. The SRMP, which includes power, irrigation, and flood control components, met 100 per cent of the minimum requirements and over 30 per cent of the advanced requirements of the HSS. This certification highlights the project’s sustainable practices, including its efforts in environmental protection and social responsibility.
