Several airlines from Southeast Asia were recognised at the World Airline Awards 2019 which were held in Paris. The awards which were announced by the aviation research firm Skytrax are amongst the most prestigious awards in the sector.

Singapore Airlines has been named the second best airline in the world next to Qatar Airways. However, it has been awarded the Best Airline in Asia Award. The other accolades won by the airline include World’s Best Cabin Crew and Best First Class awards. The Malaysian carrier AirAsia has won the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Award. Other winners include Bangkok Airways which has been named the world’s best regional carrier and Philippine Airlines which was recognised as the world’s most improved airline.

The awards are based on a survey of 21.6 million customers of over 100 nationalities who reviewed more than 300 airlines from September 2018 to May 2019.
