The Thai cabinet passed a resolution for appointing Soonchai Kumnoonsate as Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The appointment became effective on July 31, 2013. Kumnoonsate was Deputy Governor of Power Plant Development at EGAT since October 2011. Prior to that, he was assistant governor of Fuel Management at the authority since January 2010. Other positions held by him at EGAT included Assistant Director of the Thermal Power Construction Division and director of the Project Development and Planning Division. He serves as a Director of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited. Kumnoonsate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Chulalongkorn University. He has also completed the Public Law and Management Programme from King Prajadhipok’s Institute, the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, and the Psychological Operations Staff Course from the Applied Psychology Institute.
