Seven universities in Indonesia will be fitted with a solar power generating system by the end of 2021 to support their activities. The seven universities will be fitted with a solar system of 500 kWp. The renewable power generating systems will be installed in the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Malang, University in Kalimantan, Universities in East Java, University in Bali, Universities in Jakarta, and several other locations. Development of the projects is being undertaken by SUN Energy.

In line with the Government of Indonesia’s plans to increase renewal energy’s share in the country’s power mix by 2025, many national universities have installed solar power generating systems on their campuses.  At the end of 2020, the Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA) inaugurated the 1MWp Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS) Ground Mounted as the first largest PLTS Laboratory in Indonesia. SUN Energy also completed the installation of PLTS projects at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Diponegoro University (UNDIP) during 2020.
