SMRT Corporation Limited (SMRT) has secured a contract extension from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to continue operating 48 public bus routes in Woodlands and Choa Chu Kang-Bukit Panjang in Singapore till August 2026. The extension was awarded after considering factors including infrastructure readiness, operational stability and market conditions.
The two bus packages were extended at a competitive service fee, without any change to the minimum service standards for SMRT.
The Woodlands bus package consists of 20 routes including cross-border service 950, Woodlands Bus Depot, Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub and Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange. Meanwhile, the Choa Chu Kang-Bukit Panjang bus package has 28 routes which includes trunk services to the city and eastern Singapore, Kranji Bus Depot, Gali Batu Bus Terminal, and Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang bus interchanges.
This is in addition to a five-year contract extension secured by SMRT in August 2023 for 26 bus routes in Jurong West.
